Hello Good Peoples,
Yeah, welp it's been a while. There is just so much going on in the world and in mine. So sorry for missing in action. Life is life-ing as they say.
I had yet another death in the family which just throws everything off.
Covid did an aweful number on us all. Trying to pick up the pieces is just a little hard sometimes and we just need to take a breather and that is what I did.
Just a tiny reminder that books can take children all over the world right from your home livingroom or from their bedrooms. I know that they love to play video games and ipads are just awesome, but there is something that is so special about holding a wonderful book in your hands and reading it out loud. My parents worked a few jobs between the two of them and they never had the time or energy to read to my sister and I. We were often told to tell ourselves a story. Honestly, this is how I started writing my own stories. I was doing it for so long that is came out of me. I am not a Jackie Woodsen or Jason Reynold or Derrick Barnes. I love these writers. They tell such awesome stories and I want to do the same. I am taking time to create more characters and writing about what is in my heart, mind and spirit to write. Sometimes I share and then there are times when I just keep them inside.
Like I said, Books are so powerful and can take you anywhere you want to go without having to use tank full of gas to get there or spend thousands of dollars to catch a flight and now with all the crazy going on I need God, Books and art more everyday.
What books are you all reading with your children? I would really love to know. Wishing you all such Happy Summer Sailing Book Reads!!
